Public tender for the conversion of the old cinema of Alcanar into the ‘José Antonio Valls Theatre-Auditorium’.
It is proposed to make full use of the structure of the original building, as well as the accession of the adjoining plot to increase the building volume.
The gesture of rotating the auditorium by 90º from the original and placing it at the back of the building generates a new façade to the previously empty street and makes it possible to take spatial advantage of the large spans of metal trusses.
A longitudinal reading of the structure in which two courtyards, one exterior and the other as an interior void, configure the backbone of circulations and provide the opportunity of a central illuminated, open or closed space with many plastic possibilities.
