Mariña Sabela Jordán De La Peña
Raxó, 1989
Born in 1989, between the sea and the countryside, between the Rías Baixas and a valley in inland Galicia. He graduated in 2016 from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona. Two years earlier he was awarded a scholarship to study at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville. He begins his professional career in Barcelona and in 2021 independently establishes his home-studio in Pontevedra, Galicia.
“Architecture being a work of thought, I will cite three genuine concepts that I consider the germ of architectural reflection: History, Existence and Imagination as the three threads that weave and entertain my daily chores. Time, an operative dimension, a paradox loaded with symbolism and ambiguity.
I am interested in architecture as a discipline, not in historical-material terms, but rather as a tool and field for sensitive possibility. A scenario of the user’s experience with his environment, “with” and “from” his daily life, and mainly, with “his” spirituality, as a work of experimentation, my own and, in the last instance, that of others. Subject and matter, matter and subject, alter and alternate each other, historically, in a sort of eternal dialectic where the “I” and the “landscape” act as a lens and, at the same time, as a mirror.
